Today we celebrated Katelyn’s first day back at preschool. Inspired by my sweet friend, Erin, we held our 2nd annual back to school party tonight. I love the idea that we’re teaching our children that it’s ok to be excited about summer and all the fun activities we do, play dates with friends and late bedtimes, but we really want them to be excited to head back to school as well. Maybe it’s the former teacher in me, but I will always want to celebrate starting school with our children. Today I sewed up Katelyn a new crown, with a “K” so she can learn to spell her own name this year, a star signifying shinning bright and doing her best no matter what she’s asked to do and a heart that will remind her to love others.
Our theme for this school year is, “Let His light shine in YOU!” Katelyn told us she’s most excited about learning more about Jesus this year at school. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this blesses our hearts and I think our theme is the perfect fit. Tonight at dinner we practiced this months Bible verse and listened as Katelyn chatted excitedly about her day.
It’s hard to believe the school year has already started. We’re going to keep the celebration going tomorrow with a trip to Disneyland with friends!
Did your littles start school this week? How did it go?

This is so sweet. As a mother, doesn’t it just fill up your heart when your children express that they want to know Jesus more?! There is no better answer! I love it! And your pictures are beautiful. Have a great day!

The photos are so cute and I’ve been hearing more and more about back to school celebrations. Knowledge and Faith are so important and it’s amazing when they can have fun with it. All the best.

This is so cute, I love it. I love the idea of the back to school party! My older son loves school and learning, I am so blessed with that, I hope it sticks! It was his first year in American school and in Kindergarten this year! He started a couple weeks back. I think I’m gonna have to do the back to school party next year for sure!
