We bought our first house a year ago. It was a BIG step for us.
We looked for almost 2 years and after hundreds of bids, doors closing at every turn, we found the home we’re in.
It was totally God. He gave us a home church, then he gave us a home down the street.
Perfectly orchestrated.
When we moved into our first home we were so used to white walls that we had the inside painted neutral colors: beiges, browns, taupes. The idea was to keep everything neutral so that we could add color accents. Well we’ve been in our home for over a year and we still haven’t added much color.
All that is about to change!! We are getting ready to repaint our daughter’s bedroom. She’s 3 and she loves color, so what a perfect time to paint her walls than this. I have to admit I’m a little nervous, but I think once it’s all done I’m going to love it.
So I took a trip to Walmart with my kids so we could pick out our paint testers. I ended up picking colors from the Glidden Brilliance Collection. This collection if filled with hundreds of beautiful colors, some which are outside my comfort zone, which I love. I grabbed 5 of my favorite colors and back home I went, excited to get them up on the wall.
Now I’d love to get your feedback. What do you think? Which one do you like the best? Keep in mind that when we look down our hallway our daughter’s room is the first room you see so we want to make sure that the color we choose compliments the colors we have on the other walls.
The Glidden testers were so easy to use. I love how they come with an applicator brush so you can avoid having to buy several throw away tester brushes. The brushes also provide a good size stroke on the walls, which allows you to paint a good size swatch quickly.
Here are my thoughts:
Color #1: Deepest Aqua – I love this color on the swatch, but having a wall that dark in her room when all her bedding is a bright pink might be too much of a contrast. On the other hand maybe doing the walls dark might be fun.
Color #2: Bermuda Bay – This is my favorite one so far. Although to be honest I might lighten it just a tad, maybe not. I love how young, bright and vibrant this color is and I think it would look great next to my daughter’s bright pink bedding.
Color #3: Fresh Pineapple – Ok I thought I would really love this color when I saw it in the store, but I don’t at all. I don’t think yellow is the right fit for her room and I don’t like it against the taupe walls.
Color #4: Sexy Pink – This is a really fun color, I think if we used this color I would definitely have them lighten it!! My concern is that this might be too much pink in her room. I want a color that compliments what we have already.
Color #5: Seal Gray – When I saw this color I immediately thought gray and white stripes on her wall. Wouldn’t that be fun?! I know it would be a lot of work and I’m worried if I can pull of the straight lines. I don’t know that I would use this color to cover the entire wall.
Well, what do you think of my colors?

I love the sexy pink and the bermuda bay. The BB would be fun with pink bedding and what nots, the pinks and BB remind me of cotton candy.

I'd go with the pink 🙂 A little girl can never have too much pink!

My original thought was the yellow or pink for a little misses room. But now that you say her bedding is pink, I'd say pink walls would be TOO much. The yellow does look kind of banana yellow too… My vote is for the light blue. Light blue and pink go well together!

Tough choice. I'd go with the bermuda bay, or the gray. The pink would be too much, and I don't think the yellow looks that good with the pink. Good luck.

what about gray and yellow together in some combination?

i think color is great!! remember that all of these colors are going to dry and look about 50% brighter than what you currently see. i highly recommend painting a large square {4×4} and see how you like it.

I like #1 and #4!

LOVE the Bermuda Bay! B's room is painted a color very close to that and we love it. I think that one would be a fun contrast to her pink bedding, but not too much of a contrast. Can't wait to see it all finished.

I need to come over and see in person. Yes, this is me, inviting myself.

I love Bermuda Bay but I love the girliness of the pink, too! But it IS kind of a rich pink- I like your idea of lightening it up a bit!
Jennifer says
I say Bermuda Bay. 🙂 I have a quart of that and I wish I knew what to use it on. 🙂 Can't wait to see your room.

I love the idea of the grey and white stripes! That would look great with pink accents 🙂
But I should tell you that I am wayyyy in love with grey, so I'm a bit partial.
If the stripes are too much work, I vote Bermuda Bay!
