My Dearest Buddy,
It’s hard to believe you are two today.
That another year has flown since the day your were born.
What an amazing day that was.
You came into our lives at 11:46 p.m. via c-section; 3 weeks earlier than we expected.
But you completed our little family.
Your big sister was so excited to meet you.
She called you Buddy from the first moment she saw you.
This past year we’ve watched you change so much.
You look so much like my Dad, your Grandpa when he was little.
You have the same features and dimples.
Don’t even get me started on your dimples.
They get you out of trouble on many occasions,
and they brighten up my day with any hint of a smile.
I love your big doughy eyes.
They are a gateway to all your emotions.
They let me know when you’re sad, happy, excited
and even hold strong in the midst of your stubbornness.
You played in snow for the first time in the last year.
You weren’t sure how you felt about it at first.
You definitely didn’t like walking on it,
but you loved to watch Sissy run around and sled in the snow.
From Mommy’s arms of course.
I hope you always look up to your Big Sister the way you do now.
When she’s not around, you always want to know where she is.
On the rare occasion that you wake up from nap time before her, you can’t go five minutes without trying to wake her up.
I pray that you always remain close,
and that you will always want to spend time with one anther.
You love her so much!
You are still every bit as much a Momma’s boy now as you were when you were born.
We have a truly special bond and I hope it’s one we have always.
You love to snuggle, be held and follow Momma around.
When you are sad or when Momma get’s too busy, there’s nothing a little snuggle time can’t fix.
There are nights when you still say, “Mama, rock;” wanting to be rocked before you go to sleep.
I think those are my favorite moments.
This year we started growing out your hair.
You don’t like to get a haircut.
I can distract you with lollipops, Nemo, and a firetruck sale, but you still don’t like getting a haircut.
So we say goodbye to the faux hawk and say hello to a longer, shaggier do.
You now have “Beiber fever”
Of course by the time you read this you probably will have no idea who Beiber is.
Mommy loves your long hair, mostly because you wake up with the cutest bed head.
You are very creative.
I love it!
You take after your Momma like that.
You love to color, read, paint and keep busy with imaginary play.
You love to play dress up with Sissy, and you even enjoy sporting her tutu’s.
I know you will outgrow this, but it does keep us laughing.
This summer we introduced you to the water.
You took to it like a fish.
We couldn’t go to the pool often enough.
We were so proud of how great you did in swim lessons.
You have become the perfect combination of your Daddy and your Uncle B.
You are sensitive and sometimes we find you in tears in unexpected situations.
You are focused, inquisitive and you never hesitate to ask “Why” when asked to do or not to do something.
You love to talk on the phone… loudly… and with your hands. Just like your Daddy.
You also have your Daddy’s fashion sense and love for shoes.
In this case your boots.
You wear them to bed more often than not.
You are talking so much now.
We can almost understand everything you say.
You can repeat back words after only hearing them once.
You are even letting Sissy teach you letters and sounds.
It’s so cute!
We are so proud of you!
I know you are destined for great things little one.
I know you will conquer the world someday.
Always be true to yourself.
Be kind to others.
Share your toys.
And give freely.
Remember how much Jesus loves you!
He loves you so much!
It’s by his power and strength that you will hopefully make each decision in your life.
We love you so much little man!
Always and forever.
