You would think I would be looking at the first day of school approaching differently this year. I know what to expect, I know where they both need to go, I’m feeling good about their teachers, yet it still feels different. This year brings a new set of emotions. It’s not my first baby going to Kindergarten, it’s my second baby headed to Transitional Kindergarten. He’s officially in elementary school. My 2-3 days a week preschool days are over and now he’s going to be driving through carpool and getting out with his sister.
There will be no more mornings watching the airplanes take off
No more sleeping in some mornings
No more sounds of lego airplanes flying through the house in the mornings
Snacks will be packed
Uniforms will be laid out each night
Backpacks are needed
And, I’m not going to lie, it’s a little bittersweet.
This new, incredible chapter is beginning.
One they are both ready for.
And one I can’t wait for them to dive into
and grow into who they are.
I know this year is going to positively impact them
It’s going to be a year that will shape their future.
My prayer is that they both make new friends,
that they allow each other the space to grow in those new friendships
but at the same time, they keep the bond they have.
School starts next Wednesday and so if you don’t see me around here much
It’s because I’m off living up the last days of summer with them.
Have your kids headed back to school? What are you most nervous for? Excited for?
