This year we had an extra special Father’s Day. My in-laws are blessed to have a cabin in Big Bear near the lake and they invited us to come up for the weekend to get away from the craziness, relax, and do some Sea Dooing. We love going up to Big Bear, minus the fact that Brayden [poor guy] get’s car sick going up and down the mountain so there’s always puke involved. Katelyn is finally old enough to understand what it means to go to Big Bear and just the idea of getting in the car and going on a road trip excites her. Truth be told, she probably gets excited because we have a DVD player for the car, but it only gets set up on long road trips. This kids had a great time while we were there taking turns riding on the Sea Doo’s with Kyle and Papa and they even got to play on a little man made beach at the neighbors house. I tried my best to tan but there’s no getting rid of these pasty white legs. No making fun!
We headed up on Friday afternoon, with the intention of coming home Sunday morning to spend some time with my Dad who is stateside from China for some business meetings. Well my dad called on Friday night to tell me that his all day Saturday meetings were cancelled. I was heart broken! I couldn’t believe my dad was in town and we weren’t. Ugh! He assured me he had some errands to run and we would see him on Sunday. Well as we were getting ready for dinner on Saturday night, my amazing hubby suggested we pack up and head home after dinner so that we could have all day Sunday with my dad. Um, isn’t he so awesome!! It wasn’t that he wouldn’t have left it if I had asked, but it was so nice of him to suggest it before I did.
We headed out after dinner and made it about 20 minutes before my poor little man started throwing up his dinner. Ugh! We did our best to comfort him as we hurried down the mountain. At the bottom we had to stop to get him cleaned up before we continued home. My dad met us at the house so the kids were able to see him a little bit before we put them to bed.
Father’s Day was filled with breakfast at the pancake house, early naps, and dinner at Gulfstream Restaurant in Newport Beach. If you haven’t been there, it’s amazing!! The food, service and ambiance is great. My kids loved their shoe string fries. It was so great to have my dad in town on Father’s Day. It’s the first one we’ve spent together since I was a freshman in college. I’d do the math for you, but it would make me feel really old. hehehe.
I’m so beyond blessed to have such amazing men and role models in my life and the life of my children. Their Papa’s and their daddy love them so much!! Thank you Kyle for being such an amazing husband and father to our children!!
To those of you who are without your father’s this father’s day, my heart and prayers are with you. May God comfort you and surround you with a peace and joy that surpasses all understanding!!

So sweet. Poor little guy getting car sick. I can relate, I HAVE to be the driver at all times! Hopefully he'll grow out of it. You're so lucky to have a cabin in the mtns to go to. I miss the mtns. 🙁 Happy Father's Day to your daddy & Kyle!

Ugh kids puking in the car is the worst! Levi get sick with his Hydrocephalus, and has been sick in the car many times. Once on the way to the hospital last summer, and his car seat was soaked in throw up. We spent all day in in there at the hospital and when we got back to our car the vomit and the smell had saturated everything or so it seemed. I had to drive with the windows down the whole way home, and felt like I was going to get sick from the smell.
And on a lighter note, girl I am jealous that you have in-laws with a cabin. 🙂
