Building new habits is hard, let’s be real

They stretch you, grow you, refine you and they can leave you rung out. That’s how I felt this morning. It’s been hard to change old habits, be mindful of what I’m eating and getting back to working out. I’ve worked out the last 20 of 22 days and this morning the scale didn’t reflect my hard work. I wanted to cry, stomp my foot and cruise to the doughnut shop, but I didn’t.

Instead I remembered what it was like when I made a commitment to Jesus to wake up every morning at 6am and spend my sunrise hour with Him, studying and memorizing scripture, reading the Bible start to finish multiple times. It’s been 100% worth every moment and now the Lord wakes me up when my watch alarm doesn’t go off. But the fruit of this season and how deep my relationship with Jesus is, makes me crave that time with Him.

This is no different. It takes 21 days to build a habit and today was day 22. I might’ve needed a pep talk from @kylecircle + our coach @hebets, but tomorrow is a new day and I’m still on track and I know it’s going to be 100% worth it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is building healthy habits that take care of our body and fuel our soul, might seem hard, but they’re life giving, so stick with it! It will get easier, you will see change, but best of all you will watch your confidence grow.

Our sweet Katie girl went to her first school danc

Our sweet Katie girl went to her first school dance last night. I’m still in disbelief that she’s growing up so fast before our eyes. We could not be more proud of the young woman she’s becoming 💕 The night came to a close with a daddy/daughter dance, which was the perfect way to end the most wonderful day.

The world tells us busy is better….

But we serve a God who created us after His heart and He models + speaks about the importance of REST often, both in the old and New Testament.

Saying No is a full sentence, sometimes we need to spend time soaking up His rest so we can rediscover His peace and His joy.

This weekend I purposefully scheduled nothing because we’ve had 3 weeks of constant busyness. We slept in, went on a family bike ride, are making family dinner. Don’t underestimate the importance of retreating to REST.

Giddy Up 🤠 Celebrating our friend @oclydia’s birthday tonight with a Murder Mystery Party! Might be my most favorite theme ever, we all got characters and played out solving a murder. Any excuse to get dressed up and have a date night. It was Best night with great friends! Love you Lyd!

Have you ever come across a dandelion swaying in t

Have you ever come across a dandelion swaying in the grass and been able to resist the temptation to pluck it gently from the ground? The simplicity of just one breath causing hundreds of dandelion seeds to sail through the air, evokes a sense of awe and wonder.

Nothing in creation is happenstance. From the beginning God gave the charge to, “be fruitful and multiply.” This extends beyond marriage and family into discipleship and growing the kingdom of heaven. God wants us to desire what He desires and to trust Him to move in power to see it through.

When you blow on a dandelion, it’s seed travels far and wide and the beauty in their seed is that they can bloom wherever they are planted. They’re wispy and dainty, but they are strong and mighty.

This tattoo is a reminder to live a life that reflects God’s grace, love and honor of others, speaks truth, breathes life with my words, and desires to see others find Jesus.
