I’m sitting here, surrounded by new Christmas toys, all snuggled up under a warm blanket because it’s 50 degrees today in Southern California and well, I’m a wimp when it comes to the cold. I always remind myself how blessed I am to live here because I would seriously die of the shivers anywhere else. The kids are putting legos and puzzles together while we watch Newsies and take breaks every so often to get up and dance and sing along. I love that they’re finally getting into musicals because they’re my favorite! First Annie, now Newsies, next up? Oh the possibilities are endless.
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged and, in truth, while I missed it a lot, the break was so necessary. This year took many unexpected turns and while this has always been a place I could come to, to work out my feelings, there were many times where there was nothing to say, and just a desire to be with my family. This is evident by the fact that I sat down to download all the pictures from our Christmas getaway to Big Bear and realized that I barely took any pictures. In fact, I rarely even had my phone on me. And you know what, I unplugged and survived. Never thought I’d ever say that.
Looking back on last week, I’m thankful for the lack of photos. I often get caught up in needing to be on social media or on my computer often so I don’t miss anything, but in truth, I’m missing so many moments right in front of me. My kids are growing up before my eyes and, gosh, I just don’t want to miss a single second. So while I head back to snuggling my kiddos, here are some memories we made over Christmas.
How was your Christmas week?
xo, Alissa
