Coffee Date: Answered Prayers

Hi Friend,

I’m so excited you’re joining me today.

What can I get you to drink? Coffee, tea, maybe a Mimosa?

This week has been one of answered prayers around here.

A couple weeks ago I wrote about a struggle I was having. It was hard to write about, but even harder to look in the mirror and take accountability for ways that I was failing as a Mommy. As a result some changes were make around here.

The changes have made this incredible difference in my relationship with Katelyn… in a wonderful way. In a wonderful way that I never expected.

Then I would tell you that refocusing on my family has been amazing but it has caused me to fall behind on the business and blog side of things. Yes I’m still blogging, hehe, but answering emails… well…. I’ve been kind of slow at responding.

Last week I threw out a tweet saying, “I need a virtual assistant.” Not thinking anything of it.

Then something wonderful happened.

A few wonderful people responded to my tweet.

They heard my plea for help and loved me and my blog enough to offer to help me.

It left me… speechless

After some prayer, I’m so excited to have my good friend Jacqui joining the Rags to Stitches family as my Virtual Assistant.

Please know that if you email me something personal it will still go to my email and be answered by me. Jacqui is going to help me organized my sponsor emails, general inquiries regarding blogging, etc. If you haven’t had a chance to check out her blog, I hope you will. She’s a beautiful person inside and out and I’m so excited to have someone I love and trust helping me out.

Then I would tell you how amazing God is, and how sometimes it’s in those small, quiet moments when we allow ourselves to ask that He answers. I think sometimes I’m afraid my requests or needs are small or unimportant in the scheme of things.

I don’t think that’s the case at all. I think that it’s in those times that God waits quietly for us to simply ask. To reach out to him and trust him and lean on him like a friend. To ask him to help in the same way we would our family, friends, or spouse.

Not even sure sometimes what causes me to hesitate. What makes you hesitate?

I’ve been praying a lot about friendships. I’ll admit that besides a couple of girlfriends I had in high school up until the last couple of years I didn’t have very many close girl friends. It wasn’t because I wasn’t trying it was just hard to meet people and build those kinds of friendships where theres’s an instant bond or connection.

Many of the ladies I met at work grew up in this area and already had their “go to” group of friends.

I wanted that so badly! When I joined MOPS almost 4 years ago, my prayer was for 1 friend. Just 1 girlfriend that I would share commonalities with. He answered that prayer! She is one of my best friends, and now our kids are all best friends. She has seen me through some of my best and worst times and I’m forever grateful for our friendship.

When I began blogging as an outlet for baring my heart and documenting our life I had no idea that once again God would answer my prayers in a bigger way than I imagined.

He has brought me friends I can be myself with.

Friends I can shop with.

Be crazy with.

Craft with.

Text in the wee hours of the morning.

Skype with.

Who call me just to see how I’m doing.

Drop by my house and park their van out front running causing all my neighbors to gossip.

Tweet me “just because.”

And laugh at my fashion insecurities.

And he has brought me all of you. Who day after day, visit me here in my little space of the virtual world. And you leave such wonderful, encouraging, uplifting comments and emails. You share pieces of your life with me.

And I feel so honored.

Honored to have the chance to know you…. share with you… build a friendship with you.

So today if you joined me for coffee, I would give you the biggest hug. And I might cry just a little as I let you know that you mean the world to me. So thank you! Thank you for being a part of God’s answered prayer.
