I would recommend reading Serena by Ron Rash. It’s based during the Great Depression in the Appalachian Mountains of Western NC (where I live!) It is a phenominal read and definitely keeps you intrigued. I was kinda upset when I finished it. ha! BUT the best part is that has been made into a movie that will be coming out the end of September starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence…for reals. They are just ah-mazing together!

I will have to check that book out. now I’m curious why you were upset when you finished it. haha and who doesn’t love BC and JL together on the big screen?!

I don’t do scary books very well, either! Eek! Have you read The Happiness Project? That’s another fun inspirational book! I absolutely love it 🙂 LOVE your skirt! I’m totally and completely obsessed with stripes lately. Way, way cute!
Alissa Circle says
I haven’t read The Happiness Project, I will have to check it out! I’m a huge fan of stripes and I might sleep in that skirt. haha xo

We’ve had a rough time going back to school. Linked up my post about it. And this second week hasn’t been much better as my daughter got an ear infection and strep throat. Hoping it gets better soon.
Alissa Circle says
I’m so sad to hear that your second week has been as hard as the first. Being a mama is the hardest job there is I think. Hoping your little one feels better soon.

aww… I haven’t done a coffee date post in months but this vlog made me miss it. I think I loved the randomness about it… school… your skirt,… the sewing summit… sounds like a lot is happening.
Alissa Circle says
So many things… haha… but feeling so blessed. I hope you’ll come back and link up again soon.

Your expression when you say you’re sweating out of crevasses you didn’t know existed was HILARIOUS.
And I have the same problem with my kids. Afton is the first to go to school and she started at the beginning of August. Every.single.day when she gets home it’s like all order and sanity goes crashing through a window like a baseball. And bedtime is crazy we’renotgoingtosleep time. So many fights with the girls about it. Ugh! Glad we’re not the only one with issues here!
Alissa Circle says
oh my goodness, so many unimaginable crevasses. I literally can smell myself. ugh!!!
what is is about after school that makes them go bat shit crazy instead of go to sleep!? Oh my sanity. haha

I had to laugh at your spider comment as my middle child was calling for my husband at 2a the other night because she swore there was a spider in her bed. 😉
Alissa Circle says
hahaha i would be so pissed if they woke me up at 2am! damn spiders!

Now, I need to read that book! I just finished Cold Tangerines by Shauna Neiquist. It’s a good one if you haven’t read it yet.

I read lots of good books this summer. Have you read The Paris Wife or Lessons from Madame Chic (light read) or Uglies (YA), or Minimalist Parenting? Anyway, I’m going to leave you my general link to some book reviews, just because maybe it will be helpful and you may find a title that piques your interest.

Fun time! Thanks for hosting. I made a video myself today for the first time. Goodness! Vlogging is so much more difficult for me than blogging.
