I am sure many of you have life goals or resolutions for the coming year. One of them always tops the list overall and that’s — getting organized! As a work from home Mom, I am constantly wearing more than just the mompreneur hat but the hey I run a household hat too. Stay organized and having a workspace you want to work in is so important. Not only does it help your creative mind but it inspires you. While everyone might not have an entire extra room for a home office, finding an organized corner or space is truly something you must do for yourself to help be successful when working from home. Just because you don’t leave the house, and you may work in yoga pants most days – having a designated office space is good for the mind. So today – I thought I would share with you a few tips on just how you can stay organized and create the perfect home office space. Pretty inspiration included.
{Create a File System}
And it doesn’t have to be a filing cabinet. Whatever works for you! Pretty storage boxes for different papers or maybe a re-vamp’d filing cabinet is your best option. Whatever does work – you will find your niche and never rush around looking for things again. Creating a good file system is crucial in a home office. Especially if you have littles. Those papers will fill your desk quick. It’s nice to create your own system that works for you. It works for a great place to store thank you cards, press releases {if you’re a blogger}, catalogs, etc. Not just important papers! It is great for clutter overall so your desk is always a clean slate.

{Command Center}
Okay, so this doesn’t necessairly need to go in your home office but, this is perfect for those with families and great if you don’t have a ton of space! It’s perfect for that small blank wall in your home you’ve been wanting to do something with but can’t figure out just what. A command center is basically It is a place for you to organize your day-to-day essentials from mail, homework, permission slips, receipts, coupons, etc. It literally is has a place for everything and creates a spot for every single important piece of paper that comes into your home that you may need to quickly find. Throw in some great storage baskets, hooks for backpacks and your purse along with a hanging filing system and you will feel in complete control of all that clutter you’re always looking for last minute.

{Inspiration Board}
Get creative! By placing an inspiration board full of things that inspire you, pieces of an Anthropology catalog, biz cards, all of those pretty littles thing you want to look at everyday — it will inspire your mind and heart. Having the things you love right in front of you is a constant reminder of things that inspire you and help your creative soul.
A simple DIY tip: Look for a large frame, give it a fresh coat of spray paint and cover a cork board with fabric to hang in the middle. Hang it right over your desk as a visual reminder of the things you love and pretties that inspire you.

{Make It Cozy, Make It Yours}
This is a place you will need to be creative. You will need concentrate. Your mind will need to come alive. You will be spending many hours of the day. Therefore, you need to LOVE it. I suggest not going for the whole matchy matchy office in a bag type theme. Instead, gather things you love – pieces of furniture you can’t leave the store without, a banner with your biz name, maybe some cute garland and some pom-poms. Whatever makes your heart feel happy.
