Hi Friends. Well I feel like I’m still in a complete sugar coma from the birthday party this weekend. Excuse me, I’m still in a wee bit of shock that my baby is three. Saturday was bittersweet because I realized as I pulled the newly blown candle out of the birthday cake before I cut it that this will be the last 3 year old birthday party I throw + that each year we celebrate Brayden’s birthday it will be the last time that number will sit in a cake and be blown out by one of my littles. It almost made me wish that I could rewind time or slow it down so I could watch him turn 3 one more time! It also made me realize that I need to start sitting down and writing letters to my littles on their birthdays so I can hold tight to the memories and experiences we’re having with them right now. Do you write letters to your little ones each year?
One of my favorite things about throwing a birthday party beside Baby Boy Bakery desserts is the photo booth. This year I wanted to create a fun background for the pictures that would fit our super hero theme. My original idea was to get a black curtain and spray paint sky scrapers on it, but when I did a search on Target.com for black curtains, I found a black and white curtain with sky scrapers already on it for $10!! So I purchased the skyscraper one, a black curtain (also $10) to back it and some black curtain clips ($1) and voila, an awesome backdrop! Once I had the backdrop up and ready I realized that I wanted to add some “super hero wording” to it. So I pulled out some primary colored paper and my Circuit + went to work! I just love how it turned out!
And so you can see it in action, here’s a sneak peek of some of the pictures that the amazing Cristina Robeck Photography took. You may have seen some sneak peeks of our family photos this week if you follow me on Instagram, so I was really excited when she agreed to come to Brayden’s party too. Be sure to check her out on Facebook; she’s still got 10 spots left for her mini December sessions. Snag one quick. And if you mention me, you’ll get the “Member’s” price.
Thank you to the amazing Pip and Bean Capes for the awesome super hero capes and masks that we used for our photo booth! They were a hit! If you’re looking for a great Christmas present, look no further!
I have a ton of pictures to share from the party + especially of the amazing dessert bar, so be sure to follow along this week for some fun party planning ideas.
