Well y’all I’m honestly still coming to grips with the fact that Katelyn is 9. Coupled with the fact that she got her braces on last week, I now feel like I have a 12 year old in a 9 year old body living in my home. It’s been pretty amazing to watch all the ways she has become more responsible after having them put on, taking care of them, brushing her teeth a million times a day. I’m starting to wonder what else I can convince her to do around the house? A couple weeks ago (yes it’s taken me that long to edit photos) we celebrated Katelyn’s 9th birthday in collaboration with Ivivva. If you aren’t familiar with their brand, I would love for you to check them out. They’re a girls athleisure wear brand that is part of Lululemon. From their bright, fun colors and styles that every little girl would swoon over, Katelyn lives in her Ivivva clothes from the moment she gets home from school.

Now we all know I have a deep seeded addiction to all things Lulu, so when Katelyn had the opportunity to work with Ivivva, we were more than excited. She has been a Brand Ambassador for them the last couple months and when they decided to launch a summer of hip hop parties, it was a no brainer! We love this brand, but more so, we love the team at the South Coast Plaza Ivivva store here in Southern California. We always feel so welcome when we visit and they’re always doing fun events for girls. You may have seen a Yoga event we attended last week on my Instagram.
We had so much fun transforming our backyard into dance studio and Pop Up Shop so the Mama’s could shop at 20% off while their girls got to learn a hip hop routine from DJ Mac. Be sure to check out my Instagram because I’m going to post a snippet from the dance routine they learned during the party! Katelyn also surprised each of her friends with a new Ivivva outfit she picked out for them to wear at her party and to take home. Cue the squeals!
Thanks Sunbum for providing all the sunscreen for the girls!
DJ Mac not only brought her own professional DJ set up from local events she does, but she also put together a routine to Sia’s “Cheep Thrills” that the girls learned during the party. They all picked up the choreography so fast and even introduced Mac to some new songs and moves to add to her repertoire. Despite the sun being out in full force they girls loved learning a new dance routine and an afternoon of dancing and singing their hearts out. Katelyn, of course has now decided when she grows up she’s going to be a DJ and has since named herself DJ K. haha
How cute do all the girls look in their tanks and shorts?! I wish they made all this in my size!

When I asked our sweet girl what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday this year, she said she wanted to celebrate with a Sidecar Doughnuts birthday cake. We have loved Sidecar since they first opened a little over 4 years ago in Costa Mesa. If you’re visiting, we highly recommend making a trip there, you won’t be sorry! I would give you recommendations, but all of their flavors are delicious and they change seasonally.
Happy, happy birthday to our sweet girl! We hope you had the best time at your party and with all your friends. We love the kind, loving, tender hearted young woman you’re becoming. You love Jesus with all your heart and are always looking for ways you can serve others and help your daddy and I around the house. We are so proud of you and love you so much!
xo, Alissa
