Hello Monday my friends!
I’m taking the day to relax + decompress, catch up on emails and slide back into the swing of things around here. It’s always hard to recoup in one afternoon before life begins again. My flight was supposed to arrive yesterday at 12:08, but after backing out and snagging our place in line on the runway the pilot came online to tell us that there were some mechanical issues and we were headed back to the terminal. After sitting on the plane for 30 minutes, they told us that we needed to de-board and that the folks at Delta were strategizing a plan of how to get us home. I can’t even begin to tell you how bummed I was because I just wanted to be home and in the arms of my family. Long story short they ended up bringing in a different plane to take us home. By time I got home I had missed nap time, but I loved every moment I got to spend with my family time all afternoon.
The conference was amazing + I seriously can’t wait to go back next year. I have so much to share with you all about everything I learned, so be sure to keep popping by. In the meantime, I thought I’d share 5 of my initial takeaways from Alt Summit:
- I spent so much time agonizing about all my outfits + what I was going to wear to Alt, only to come away realizing I had more style than I thought. hehe. Also, that most of us just really wanted to be comfortable during the day so that’s how we dressed. Cute + comfy!
- Plan your schedule in advance, but follow it loosely. You never know when you’re going to meet + connect with someone and end up wanting to sit and chat. If that happens, don’t excuse yourself to go to the session, keep chatting + be ok with being late. You can always catch up via the twitter stream.
- Be open – you might be surprised to find connections with people you didn’t expect.
- Know that you might not get much sleep + be ok with catch up when you get home
- Smile! It makes a huge difference when you’re meeting people.
Did you go to Alt Summit? What were your takeaways? If you weren’t at Alt, I’d still love to hear your top 5 take aways from a conference you’ve been too.
Also, before I forget, I added a brand new ad space option to my Sponsor page. I’m going to begin moving to in-post ad space only. February will be the last month you can purchase side bar ad space. I’ve got some new ideas up my sleeve. Be sure to check out the new options, I’d love to have you join the family.
