Last weekend I visit the lovely city of Salt Lake in Utah. This city has quickly become one of my favorites. From snow-capped mountains in the winter to beautiful greenery in the spring and summer to the great local food spots, I look forward to the couple of trips I take there every year. This year was no different. This year on the final morning of Alt Summit several tours took willing participants all over the city to shop, take photos, go antiquing and enjoy some local eateries. It’s not a secret that I have an addiction to food, particularly good food, so I couldn’t wait to hit up some local spots. Our tour was led by Winter Redd and her husband over at Redd Party – and they are Awesome!!
Not one to keep good local spots a secret, I thought I would share with you some of the spots we visited.
Don’t we look like we’re ready to eat + have some fun?! (Pictured: Erin + I)
First stop: Breakfast. Having stayed up late discussing all things Pinterest, I was itching for a delicious cup of coffee to kick off our tour and Les Madeleines didn’t disappoint. A cute little and quaint bakery located in downtown Salt Lake off of 500 South, our noses were hit with fresh brewed coffee and patisseries from the moment we entered. I enjoyed a fresh hot mocha and the MadMuffin Sandwich. You really can’t go wrong enjoyed eggs, bacon, avocado and micro chives in every bite. If you’re in town I highly recommend stopping by to eat and people watch.
Our next stop was one I was really looking forward to: Tony Caputo’s, home of cheeses from all over the world. Their selection rivals any I’ve ever seen, and since charcuterie boards are my favorite past times when getting together with my friends, I’ve seen my fair share of cheese selections. I couldn’t wait to hear all about how they age their cheese in their cheese caves and try some of their italian cheeses. After much debate I came home with Ossau Iraty and Fromager D’Affinois that literally melts in your mouth.
Our last stop topped off my list of addictions with a tour of V’s Chocolates. I mean I’m a chocolate lover, but I think my addiction was taken to a whole new level getting to tour a local chocolatiers spot and see where all the magic happens. They were so gracious and after the tour they even let us fill a bag and take home many of their chocolates to try. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’m pretty sure you should just stop what you’re doing and go place an order!
One of my favorite parts about traveling is when I have the opportunity to eat at new and fun local spots. If you’ve been to SLC or have any other spots I should try the next time I’m there, let me know!
