We had an amazing 4th complete with sleeping in, being lazy and then enjoying an evening with friends and neighbors.
Kyle and I are loving all the extra family time we’ve been soaking up. While it’s been hard to say no to plans with friends, we believe that in this busy season focusing every free moment of our time on our family is what’s most important to us right now.
Our family is so grateful for all the men and women, like my cousin Dan, who have and still are serving our country to protect our rights and our freedoms. I certainly don’t take this for granted. Having grown up overseas where many of the rights we are accustomed to don’t exist, it makes me even more proud to be an American.
Can I just say tho, y’all, fireworks and kids – they still make me panicky. Tonight Brayden walked by Katelyn and straight into her sparkler. Praise Jesus all he ended up with was some singed hair and eyebrows (I know hair can grow back)… but all I can think about it how much worse it could’ve been. I’d show you a picture of the damage, but I really don’t want you all to think I’m a bad mom, I’m really not. I’ve just had a string of unfortunate experiences, starting with the incident yesterday. Thank you Jesus for watching over my sweet baby boys eye and protecting it. With that said, we are hoping for less hands on fireworks next year maybe and more watching them from a distance… a far distance.
I hope you all had an amazing 4th of July celebrating amongst family and friends!
Did you do anything exciting? I’m thinking next year I need to make some 4th of July themed desserts, have one to share with me?

Ok so I’ll make you feel a whole lot better about the string of unfortunate incidents you’ve had with your kids… I’ve been meaning to write you ever since I read your shopping cart incident, but hadn’t gotten around to it. I have 3 girls ages 6, 5 and 20 mos. And my 3rd little girls is my monkey, mischeivous one. Well a couple of weeks ago I had a perfect stranger bring my child to me in Chic-fil-a not once but twice! Our CFA has a closed in kids area and my girls are usually so good about staying in there. Well the first time I was at the front counter paying for our food when a man walked up beside me and started telling the cashier that someones baby was lost. I just happened to look over and realized that he was holding MY BABY! (Insert freak out #1). Then the 2nd time that day after we’d eaten the girls were back in there playing, or so I thought, when a lady walked up and said “I think this is your little girl… I found her in the ladies bathroom.”! My friend and I were in complete shock that she’d gotten by us and all the way to the bathroom. (insert freak out #2) When I got home I just cried and cried bc I realized 2 things. First that my child could have been taken from me not once but twice in the same day! And second that God had mercy on me both times and protected her. I felt like a complete failure as a mother. Then I remembered that God’s mercies are new every morning and tried to start over the next day. So don’t beat yourself up! You’re not the only one who has those crazy things happen! And happy 4th! :o)

Girl, first off- your daughter is so stinkin cute i can’t get enough! She looks just so sassy and funny and I love her yellow jams.
Second- Before you even wrote about the sparkler incident I was getting scared just looking at the pictures of the kiddos. But no one would think you are a bad momma because accidents happen and trust me, you cannot protect a child 24/7 because they move FAST but you do the best you can. And that’s why they make first aid kits:)

Isn’t it crazy how resilient kids can be? I can’t wait until I have some little munchkins of my own one day (hopefully soon)! That face after the Desitin incident is adorable!
Hope you had a great 4th – it looks like a fun time!

Poor guy!! We only did sparklers (all fireworks are illegal in Livermore) but it still made me super panicky, and of course my klutzy Lulu got burned by a spark. Aaaah!! Hope Brayden’s feeling better and that hair grows quickly!
