This week marks our spring break. With the weather getting warmer and living so close to the beach our big plans are to relax, play and have some much needed fun! We got to start off our week with friends at the beach. We played, had a picnic and just had a great time together. As a mom that works from home it is really hard for me to pull away and just hang out with my kids. Sometimes I wish there was a clear line between work and home, but there is not. I look forward to the breaks from school because it helps me to keep track of making time with my kids and friends.
So this spring break let’s grab our camera and head out for some fun! When we get out of the house our choice of places to go is the beach. But with the beach comes sand!!! I was not always a fan of it but I have come to learn to love it. The sand always reminds me that there are little moments in life that I need to cherish and those come with these two in hand, Caleb and Rebekah.
This spring break my goal is not to have a jammed packed calendar, my goal is to just let them have fun doing what they do, PLAYING! I don’t want to tell them to stop throwing sand, or to not get dirty and trust me that is going to be SUPER HARD! But look at the joy in their faces; they are having the best time just playing.
More than anything I want to help my kids build lasting relationships. I love how they are growing up and caring for people around them. You may not know but there are at least 4 years between my daughter Rebekah and Katelyn. They love each other and I love seeing how Rebekah really enjoys being with her. Caleb and Brayden are also 4 years apart and they play like they were brothers. Caleb has a really caring heart and is always look out for his buddy.
It was such a joy to SNAP these four again as they played. These pictures reminded me how much fun we had that day. All in all I think I shot about 20 minutes out of the 3 hours we played together. I have not been able to stop looking at these pictures only because they mark a time in our week where we had fun, loved people and got to relax! I want to encourage you to capture these fun moments in time so you can look back with your kids and see the joys of their childhood.
I don’t want to give you a wrong impression about our life, my kids certainly are kids and we too have those times (even when we are having fun) where one of them gets pushed the boundaries. In fact on this day one of them got in trouble for getting sand in my lens, the other one had a time out for not listening and then got to have another time out in the car ride home for making bad choices. I know the pictures show their lovely smiling faces but half the time they are like this to each other:
But no matter if they are angels or being brats I love them. I love seeing them engage in friendships and I love being with them. We are already counting down the days to summer break where we get to surf, play in the sand, have lazy mornings, work in my PJs, and have lunch picnics with their dad! For now we are going to take this week and enjoy being with each other and our friends.
I will leave you with our signature picture of our kiddos in the hopes that you will have a great spring, snap those memories and look forward to summer!
