I’ve been learning a lot about my style lately. I see all these adorable flowy, long tops, I try them + I can’t figure out why they look good on other and not on me. It’s simply because our bodies are all different and just like one size doesn’t fit all, neither does one style. This has been a really hard concept for me to grasp because I’ll see something and I want it to look so cute, but when I try it on, I know it’s not the most flattering thing I could own. I’m learning that rather than wasting my money on things that look cute, I’m saving it for things I love that really cater to my shape. I’m also realizing that this is going to be a long process since I’m on this fitness journey and my body is always changing.
I recently purchased this top + sweater and, for me, this was a good purchase. Since my waist is the smallest part of my body, the roping around the waist shows off how tiny that part of my body is. V-necks, I’m learning, also look better on me than scoop neck tops. I’m not going to say that I have it all figured out, nor do I always get it right, but I’m learning. I think that’s the first step to feeling comfortable in your own skin and feeling confident in what you wear.
Do you ever feel like it’s hard to figure out what style works best for your body shape?

I do have a hard time with this, too!! I’ve found the book, “Good Girls Don’t Have to Dress Bad” by Shari Braendel and its been a huge help!! She also has a blog, Fashion Meets Faith, that is helpful also!

I am on the chestier side too, and have long found the style you are modeling as very flattering on me. I always look for that cut.

For me, it’s not so much as what works for my body type as what I feel comfortable in. I’ve seen some trends that I think look cute on some, but when I try them, I feel awkward and uncomfortable

Girl, I feel your pain! Especially since I am several sizes bigger right now (after 3 kids!) than I have been pretty much my whole life. I buy things that I think are cute that I think will look good on me, only to realize that they would look good on my old body, not the one I have right now. So, I am so confused when I’m shopping lately, because it’s like I’m shopping for a whole other person than what I’m used to. But, I think you look great and this outfit is adorable on you. And actually, I think I may have to copy it! And here’s to dressing our own bodies to flatter our unique figures, and learning what works best for us. 🙂

it is tough to figure out! and sometimes it takes wearing the wrong thing and feeling “off” to find the right one! then you throw in what’s trendy and it’s even harder! good thoughts.
thanks for linking up with dress for the day!

I love this outfit! Those necklaces are perfect.
And I totally feel you about certain trends not working with your body type (not yours specifically, body types in general haha). I’m excited for the tight on the bottom, loose on the top trend to be over, since my waste is my smallest part too. It can be tricky to find things that work!

I have been finding myself wanting to revamp my fashion style lately as well. A lot of that has to do with trying to stretch beyond my comfort zone. The other day, I came back from Target with a mint short and white shirt. That’s unlike me to have an outfit like that. I took a chance and now it’s my go-to weekend outfit! The best thing all of us can wear is a smile on our face!
