I am partnering with JCPenney on this post, but my opinions about their affordable fashion pieces are my own and I only share with you outfits I feel you would love too. #SoWorthIt
Southern California has perfect weather all year round in my opinion, but when fall hits, the weather cools off a bit and we can finally break out our favorite sweaters and boots. I’m all about easy style and when I say that I mean, I’m always looking for pieces that I could put together while getting dressed in the dark and would feel confident they work together. Let’s call it simple style. So my closet if filled with several jackets, sweaters, plaid shirts, denim that may cost more and then I look for cute, fun pieces I can pair with them that are more affordable.

This is where JCPenney comes in. They have a variety of cute, affordable pieces that I can layer with the more expensive pieces I have in my closet. Shoes, jeans and outerwear tend to run on the pricier side, but JCPenney has a great selection of affordable dresses, jumpsuits and tops that can stylishly pair with pieces you already own. With fall upon us, finally giving us a reason to layer, having some great pieces that you can wear often and won’t break the bank are a must in my closet.
I think often times we get intimidated when it comes to fashion and styling the right look for us, rather than focusing on finding long term pieces that will work for us in a multitude of ways. Here are some tips I use when deciding to add pieces to my closet.
THREE TIPS:
- How often will I wear it? I have, in my wardrobe what I call uniform pieces. They are dresses, jumpsuits, tee’s that can be styled a variety of ways. I look for pieces that are more affordable and better yet, on sale, in my favorite colors: grey, black and blue. If the piece I’m looking at fits into this category and it’s flattering, it’ll always be a Yes!
- Can it be styled with other pieces in my closet? Don’t just settle for shopping on the mannequin. The danger in that is that you’ll have an outfit that only works when you wear those specific pieces together. Should you avoid those all together? No, absolutely not. Just make sure, when you’re shopping, you look for affordable pieces that can be easily mixed and matched with pieces you already own.
- Day to Night. I love pieces that will work during the day one way and then I can dress them up for a night out on the town.
Speaking of the tips I mentioned, these are the exact reason that I love this dress from JCPenney. Not only can I dress it up for evenings or go casual for daytime, I can also go Moto and pair it with a leather jacket. I also think this dress would be so cute with a pair of knee-high boots and a cute duster sweater with a chunky necklace.
Here’s the dress paired with brown booties and a denim jacket and then paired with a leather jacket for a more moto look. See folks, easy style, that pairs affordable pieces from JCPenney with pieces I already own in my closet!
