Now you all know how much I love my maxi dresses. Comfort + style go a long way with me. One of the things I love about maxi dresses is that they look cute if I’m running errands, but they also still allow me to sit on the floor and play with my kids at the end of my work day. I recently got this IKAT Maxi from The Printed Palette and I’m totally loving it, (Thanks Alissa!) so I thought I’d share with you 3 different ways I would style it.

For the first look I paired my maxi dress with one of my favorite go to chambray shirts from Nordstrom Rack. I love this shirt in particular because it’s longer in the back so if I’m wearing dresses or shirts that are more fitted, the back of the shirt covers my hiney, which is my “trouble area” for lack of a better word. Plus I love how the light blue in the shirt + the gray blue color of the dress pair together.

For my second look I paired my maxi with a black sweater. I love how it drapes in the front, but doesn’t make the look frumpy. The bunching at the bottom of the sleeves is my favorite. I was given this sweater at Blissdom and I’ve been wearing it non stop since I got home.
For my third look I added a denim jacket. I seriously don’t think you can go wrong with a denim jacket, unless of course you’re pairing it with denim jeans, then there’s a whole other set of rules we need to talk about. While I know that my denim jacket doesn’t cover that “area” we talked about, I really love how the look turned out.

Great variations! I love using a wide belt and folding the dress at the waist to shorten it into a knee-length dress. Another great way to get more wear out of a long maxi.
