It’s hard to believe that it was one year ago today that I allowed myself to be convinced to attend a local bootcamp. I’m anti sweat, anti dirt and while I was a hard worker in many areas of my life, working out just seemed way to hard. Plus, who has the time, right? Let’s face it, I didn’t. Or at least I thought I didn’t. After attending, and getting my bootie handed to me, many times that first week, I realized that I loved it and in order to make it work, I had to carve the time out in my schedule. Now, here we are, a full year later, to the day.
Let me tell you, I still love it, but I’m even busier than I was a year ago, so I still have to make it a point to carve out the time in my day to go. I will tell you I’m so glad that I do because I wouldn’t take back any of the inches or the pounds I’ve lost.
| Maxi Dress : Anthropologie // Red Lips: Glitter and Gloss |
I remember finding this maxi dress at Anthro a few months ago. It was one of the first new pieces I bought, along with a new pair of jeans after I lost over an inch in my chest and my thighs. Buying a small in this dress and going down one pant size was an incredible victory for me! I haven’t been this pant size since before I got pregnant with Katelyn, over six years ago. It’s amazing what a little, ok a lot, of hard work can do right? But it’s so worth it. You’ll never hear me say, I wish I would’ve staying in front of my computer that first day, or even quit that second day when I couldn’t even sit on the toilet without wincing.
Here’s a preview of where I was at last January. The picture on the left was taken at a conference I attended 2 weeks before I started working out and the picture on the right was taken a couple weeks ago. Then, of course, the ones I shared above were taken today. As of today, one year later, I’m down 10 INCHES from head to toe and 8 POUNDS!!!! Keep in mind that muscle ways more than fat, so that’s why we measure inches lost as well. 10 INCHES y’all!!!!! That’s pretty stinkin’ incredible.
I was a little hesitant to share these numbers, but I think this is all a big part of the journey and how far I’ve come. My biggest problem area is my thighs and gluts and while I’ve lost some inches, I’ve built a lot of muscle and I find that to be just as incredible. My calves have stayed the say, in case you are wondering, because I always wear heels so they were pretty toned before I started working out. Score! haha
I really hope that this journey has encouraged you along the way. It has stretched and challenged me in so many ways this past year. It’s never too late to begin your journey. It starts today and we can do this together, because, y’all, I’m in it for the long haul. Are you with me? I’d love for you to share your journey with me. Agree! you look great before and after. I have been doing my weight loss journey which is 22 pounds and I could kick myself for not measuring in the beginning! Every one keeps telling me I look like I have lost even more the past week or so and I haven’t! I just realized yesterday it must be inches! duh!

You look great. I’ve been trying to join a boot camp but I’m terrified. Maybe I will now.
I love the maxi skirt.

you look wonderful! I take measurements monthly in addition to the weekly weigh-ins. It really helps put into perspective what I’ve really accomplished. Keep it up!

Hi Alissa. First time stopping by but I am glad I did. You did an excellent job styling your Black Maxi skirt with a simple B+W Striped tee. Great Cognac Accessories and you have gorgeous hair.
I am Ada by the way – a new mom. Consider me your newest fan & follower. Hope you stop by and support my little blog as well. Thanks so much. =)

Nice work! 🙂 Working out takes a lot of planning to be able to do it when you are busy and a mom. I do what I can and am able to get two Zumba classes in a week which is better than I was doing! You look amazing!

Two Zumba classes is great! It is hard to get to the gym when you have littles. Somedays I have to force myself to go. haha
