This morning began with Purposeful change.
Instead of getting up, getting my coffee and getting ready for the day, I began the day with Jesus Calling.
Or more importantly my Heavenly Father.
See it’s funny, last night I started working on a post about a new idea I had. It came from watching my precious littles sit together putting together puzzles. Instead of playing individually, Katelyn was showing Brayden how to put the puzzle together one piece at a time. As I sat there watching, I was fully aware that at 4 1/2 years old it must’ve taken so much Purpose + Patience to help her little brother. With each piece that they put together I watched as she careful chose her words when letting him know he needed to turn the piece or letting him know where to place it. It was beautiful to watch.
Then throughout the day yesterday it made me more aware of how important it is to be be purposeful during my day.
When I woke up this morning I felt the need to be purposeful about how I start my morning.
I pulled out my iPad, opened up today’s Jesus Calling to read:
“Relax in my healing Presence. do not skip our time together. Resist the clamor or tasks waiting to be one. You have chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from you.”
As I sipped my coffee + poured through the scriptures given I got a text message from my Mom. My brother’s wife had a seizure in the middle of the night and was taken to the hospital. Immediately I went back to, “Relax in my healing Presence.” Remember that He is greater than I.
We can worry or we can pray!
So I purposefully texted my brother letting him know we are lifting him + Allyn up in prayer, then I texted friends, then I Instagrammed the picture of the words God had given to me for today and asked for prayer.
It occurred to me that through my decision to be Purposeful this morning with my time with my Jesus, He gave me the words I needed to handle today knowing that He is watching over us and taking care of us.
How amazing is that?
It brings me back to what I began to write about last night. A post that went unpublished because it’s purpose was to uplift our hearts today. Our actions should be purposeful. They should find ways to put others before ourselves or seize opportunities that will allow us to be submitting to the will of God. Whether it’s a friendship, a blog post, a conference, a playdate or a simple conversation with a friend.
#purposefulproject.
It can be a picture, a scripture, a thought…. but if you share it online, I’d love for you to tag:
“#PurposefulProject”
Will you join me? I’m also going to be purposeful about following along with Jesus Calling this year + I’d love for you to join me. All you need to do is order the book or if you have a smart phone or iPad, you can download the app.
Let’s start today friends!
Also, we would love it if you could keep my sister in law, Allyn, in your prayers. This is her first seizure so they are running lots of tests right now. I will keep you updated on how she’s doing.

Definitely praying for your sister-in-law. That they will find the answers to be able to help her and peace for your brother, as he stands by her through this. As for that story about your daughter… So sweet! Props to her for being so patient at four years of age. Our kiddos sure do surprise us every now and then, don’t they? I like to think of moments like that as reminders that we’re doing pretty well as mamas and we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves.
Excited about the hash tag… Great idea!
