I watched the high school worship team and choir lead worship at church yesterday.
I watched the members of the band play, and the members of the choir worship.
They worshiped with all their heart. Hands raised, uninhibited. Honest.
I felt the Lord’s presence fall on the sanctuary. I looked around the room and watched people of all ages, “raise their hands and spin around,” with the words to the song.
It was amazing!!
I wish you could’ve been there to watch these teenagers. They weren’t worried about their clothes, their hair, their boyfriend/girlfriend drama…. they just wanted to worship.
As I worshiped with those sitting around us, I was suddenly hit with the thought that one day our kids are going to be this age. They will be a part of our church’s high school program. Will Brayden be playing an instrument on the worship team, will Katelyn be part of the choir? Will they worship in the crowd of people in the sanctuary with their friends on either side of them?
Tears began to form and I began to find myself overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with prayer that one day, they too, will worship like these high schoolers. That they will allow themselves to be mentored by their leaders and choose to let their relationship with God become their own. My prayer is that there will be a desire for God to be fully intertwined in their lives and their decisions. When I was done praying I was filled with an amazing sense of peace.
Peace knowing that God has already written the book of life for each of my children and the foundation my husband and I and the church are giving them now, will grow them into Christ following leaders one day.
I’m so excited and can’t wait to see what God has in store for their lives!
In the meantime, I will pray continuously for them that they will worship and love God with all their hearts, souls, minds and strength and that God will make me the kind of Christ centered wife and mother I need to be so I can set an example for them.
How are you praising Jesus today?
